Um…I’m joining another swap. This is addictive.
[I will post about my actual knitting tomorrow. With photos. And a gushing about how much I love the CT River Valley. Very Very Exciting.]
The Vegan Pal 2 Questionaire!
- What is/are your craft(s), & how long have you been doing it/them?
Knitting – I learned when I was about 12, but I didn’t really knit as a hobby until college when I was 18 or so.
I used to sew quite a bit, but my sewing machine lives approximately 400 miles away from me, so we’re in a long-distance relationship. We hope to be reunited this winter. I learned how to sew approximately 13 years ago.
2. Are you a vegan, vegetarian, veg-curious, veg-friendly or other?
I am a vegetarian and have been for about 13 years. I have considered becoming vegan but have not actually made the commitment.
3. Is this your first swap, or have you done previous swaps before? What makes a swap enjoyable for you?
I am participating in the Knit One, Tea Too swap which is my first swap. I am excited to find out more about natural vegan fibers and to “meet” other knitters.
4. What is/are your favorite color(s)? Do you particularly dislike any color(s)?
I love colors! I don’t really like neon colors, but I would make-do and have fun with a project no matter what the color of the yarn.
5. Do you have any allergies (such as pets, foods, fibers or cigarette smoke)?
I am allergic to cigarette smoke, rabbit fur, and cat fur. I won’t die or anything, but I would probably wash the yarn before using if it was smoky or had bits of animal fur on it.
6. Do you have any companion animals? If so, name(s) and type(s)?*
My partner has two cats. I pretend to be disinterested in them. Their names are Riley and Finn.
7. Do you collect anything?
Um…yarn? Books? Beautiful photos? I’m not a pack rat, so I don’t really have a “collection” of anything. If it isn’t useful or beautiful, I don’t keep it around long. It’s not so much that I am snobby, more so that our apartment is small!
8. Do you have a favorite vegan food, snack or dish? If no fav that’s vegan (for those who aren’t vegan), what’s your favorite food? (Hopefully your pal can find a vegan version!)
I have recently fallen in love with vegan cupcakes! I love the Post Punk Kitchen books and website – yum! Stir-fry veggies with quinoa, rice, or noodles is my favorite dish. I also love greens (collards, spinach, chard, kale, mustard, beet greens, etc.)!!
9. What are some of your favorite/least favorite tastes/flavors? (e.g. sweet, salty, chocolate, crunchy, smooth, tart, sour, spicy, thai, whatever – Help your pal get a feel for what kind of recipes you might like and/or never ever make.)
Sadly, I cannot eat very hot-spicy food. It’s such a shame. Oh well. I love sweets, but that’s a habit I’d rather not have encouraged! I love lentil dishes, Ethiopian food, Thai food, creative salads, fruits, Mexican food….you know what? I love food. I will appreciate just about any recipe!
10. What tools/supplies/accessories for your craft(s) are you wishing you had but don’t? Also, what do you have TOO many of? (basically a wish and anti-wish list)
I would like to try to knit two socks at a time on circular needles. I normally use double-pointed needles and I think I’d like to try the circular method just to see how it goes. If my Pal had good instructions on how to do this, that would be greatly appreciated. I don’t have the 16” circular needles yet – I would probably get size 0s.
I would also love to get some blocking tools – long wire blockers or pins.
I don’t think I have too many of anything knitting related
11. Are you on Ravelry? What’s your handle?
Nope, not yet. I just started a blog, so I don’t know if I will do both. I’m on the endless waiting list so we’ll see.
12. Is there anything else you would like your pal to know about you?
I am interested in knitting with natural vegan fibers – if you have a favorite bamboo, cotton, linen, or hemp yarn, I would love to try it! I have a vision of vegan yarn being plasticy and non-breathable which I’d like to disprove! Convert me to vegan yarn!
13. What scents do you like/dislike?
Light scents. Clove is lovely as is beeswax (but that’s not vegan so nevermind).
14. Do you prefer fall or Halloween or some other Autumn theme?
Autumn, please! It is my most favorite season!
15. Just for fun – tell your favorite Halloween or Autumn related memory.
I don’t know if I have one favorite memory of Autumn….they all are so good! I love watching for the leaves to change, feeling the quiet chill in the air, listening to the leaves crunch, eating apples, building fires, snuggling up with friends, watching the moon rise, hiking in the woods while the leaves fall, noticing the change and angle of the afternoon light, drinking lovely tea, walking outside and needing a good sweater….thank goodness I live in New England!
Thanks for joining! Don’t forget to follow the invite to join our blog too. Let me know if you need me to send it again! xoxo
I am SO excited for this swap!! I only knit with vegan yarns so I will be THRILLED to introduce them to you
Vegan Pal, I cannot WAIT for you to introduce me to cool vegan yarn! Hurray! I love me some Vegan Swaps!
